Using our FTP Site for File Transfer

Global Translations maintains a high capacity FTP site for transfer of large files. It is usually problematic to send files of over 10MB by e-mail (as an attachment). Additionally, most e-mail accounts are limited to a specific amount of disk space (10 or 20MB are typical), so even if you send separate files in several e-mail messages, chances are that the recipient’s mailbox will go over quota and will bounce.

So what do you do when you need to send us files of over 100MB? Large DTP files with hi-res photos, etc.? We will provide you with a user name and password so you can upload the files to our FTP site. When we need to deliver the files back, we will upload them and let you know where you can download them from.

If security is a concern, we can provide you with a special, password-protected FTP area that can only be seen by your company.
